Using a public health approach, NAG is mobilizing marginalized communities to increase awareness about health issues and take deliberate steps to ensure equity in health services. NAG has partnered with specific health institutions to address health outcomes for marginalized communities.

HEALTH PROMOTION AND DISEASE PREVENTION

Health awareness and Education - Sanitation, hygiene, nutrition, maternal, neonatal and adolescent health, Communicable (Malaria, TB, HIV) and non-communicable diseases, mental health and substance abuse among communities

Community systems strengthening - through the following community-led activities

  • Community engagement - Opinion leaders and gatekeepers 
  • Networking, partnership, and coordination
  • Capacity building for leaders and systems
  • Community monitoring, learning, and management

 

 

HEALTH SYSTEM SUPPORT

  • Strengthening systems (leadership and information) - to improve efficiency
  • Resources and Health care workforce support 
  • Improving service delivery and access to essential medicines/medical technologies- relevant to the community needs

 

 

ANNUAL HEALTH CAMPS

NAG organizes annual medical camps at specific community health facilities that provide comprehensive services such as;

  • Health education and  promotion
  • Noncommunicable disease screening -  Cataract, Diabetes, High blood pressure, Cancers (breast, cervix, prostate)
  • Medical and minor surgical treatment 
  •  Dispensing services for essential drugs
